| When the 1840 Census was taken, William was farming in White Co., IL. William was recorded twice during the 1850 Census. He was first recorded on 11 September in Memphis, Shelby Co., TN with his brother, Shannon. "W. B." was then working as a carpenter. In November William was again recorded, this time in White Co., IL. When the 1860 Census was taken, "W. B." owned real estate valued at $50 and personal property valued at $50. William B. Parkhurst enlisted as a private in Company I, Eighty-seventh Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry on 10 August 1862 at Carmi, IL for three years service during the Civil War. He was married, age 41, 6 feet tall, had black hair, and was a farmer according to the muster roll. He was mustered into service on 22 September 1862. He was mustered out at the end of the war on 16 June 1865 at Helena, AR. When the 1870 Census was taken, William was living in Indian Creek Pct., White Co., IL. When the 1880 Census was taken, William was living in Norris City, White Co., IL. William died of pneumonia. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
