Maturine was exiled from Nova Scotia, Canada, during the British expulsion, 1755. He farmed in the area of Fort Manchac near Covent, LA. At the point where Bayou Manchac used to go into the Mississippi River, the Spanish had a fort on the south side, the English on the north side. Maturine served under General Don Bernardo de Galvez in the attack on British forts at Manchac and Baton Rouge, 1779. After 1782, it all became Spanish territory.
Maturine was a soldier in the Royal Spanish Militia, 1770 (Iberville Parish).
