Boghos (or Paul) came to the US before his sisters. He arrived in this country aboard the ship "Cedric" on March 22, 1914. He was 28 years old and married. He was previously a resident of Marseilles, France and came via Liverpool, England.
Boghos set up an import/export business in MA and had a string of retail stores, including an ice cream shop, throughout his life. When the massacres started in Turkey, he did everything he could to bring his family to the US. He wired money ahead to everyplace he thought they might be. He paid for his sisters' passage to America and even helped others come to this country.
Boghos was loved and respected by his entire family and touched many lives. He was always willing to help anyone, whether family or not. Toward the end of his life, he moved to Fresno, CA, to be with his sister Zano, nephew Walter, and niece Violet. He lived in Fresno less than a year before dying of cancer in 1965. |
