|Lucinda De Costa Picadura|
|From life story by Francis Picadura:|
In accordance with first name data, found in the Baptismal Certificate, "Lucinda" is her correct first name spelling; however, she was called "Lucy" by friends and family members.
She being the first live birth & daughter into the family, she was given the original Baptismal Certificate, Roman Catholic Missionaries, Hana, Maui, T.H., dated: April 1897. In the 1900's, she made photographic copies for each child, that was still alive, for their records.
She lived in Kalihi on 1819 S. Queen St. (Dillingham Blvd.) and worked for Farrington High School (S. King St.) in the cafeteria, after her retirement, she moved to Kaimuki town. There she and her daughter, Josephine Aileen Schulmeister lived a moderate but happy life.
"Lucy (Picadura) Schulmeister was a baker by profession, making the bread served in the Farrington High School cafeteria in the 1940s and 1950s. We used to enjoy home-made breads and rolls regularly, usually tied to seasons of the year, but not always. We had malasadas on "Malasadas Day" (mardi gras), hot cross buns and sweet bread (Pao Dulce) for Easter, and fruitcake and Three Kings Bread for Christmas. And white bread at other odd times during the year, when the spirit moved her." [Said by Ann S Owens, dtd: 05 Apr 2007].
