He was living in 1899 in Decatur, Macon Co., IL. This is when his daughter Irene was born. The place assumes she was born in Decatur, which has not been proven yet as no birth certificate has been located yet.
He was living in 1903 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. This is when his daughter Myrtle was born.
He resided 534 W. 79th St. on 15 Apr 1910 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. This was a rented house on the south side. John was unemployed on this date.
He appeared on the census on 15 Apr 1910 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. This census says that both of John's parents were born in Indiana.
He was living in 1912 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. This is when his son Arthur was born. His occupation was laborer.
He resided 6957 Parnell Ave. on 6 Jan 1920 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL.
He appeared on the census on 6 Jan 1920 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. He was listed as male, white, 49 years old, born IN, father born PA, mother born IN. His occupation was listed as "None" which may indicate he was unemployed, possibly because he was physically unable to work due to a disability.
He resided 3300 So. Irving Ave. on 5 Apr 1923 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. (328) This was the residence of his daughter Myrtle and her husband William Mueller.
He died on 6 Apr 1923 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. (329) He was living with his daughter Myrtle and her husband William Mueller at the time. The cause of death was listed as disease of the spine and spinal cord. There was also a notation "removed a tuburcular granulation". He was buried 9 Apr in Bethania.
NOTE: The "informant" for John's death certificate, William Mueller (John's son-in-law), stated that John's parents were born in Nebraska. However, this information has proven to be false.
His granddaughter Gloria seems to remember that he had been in an accident and injured a disk in his back that required an operation. She thinks that he had been confined to a wheelchair.
