Information by Joyce (Mrs. Larry) Trimbell - June 22, 2000:

Lloyd Scott went by the name of "Beaky".   Beaky lived in Cedar Falls his whole life.  He worked in the shipping department of Viking Pump until he retired.  He also delivered the Des Moines Sunday Register and cleaned various churches in Cedar Falls.

In his younger days Beaky had his own band "Beaky's Rythm Ramblers" and played in local taverns.  He played the drums.  I believe this was in the late 1939's and early 1940's.

Beaky loved to fish and the family would vacation in Minnesota.  Beaky's son, Larry, remembers hanging onto his dad's pants and fishing in the rivers.  Family picnics at rivers or lake was a normal Sunday event.

In 1966 Beaky and Lois mortgaged their home and loaned Larry the down payment on the Frigid Zone Drive In in Cedar Falls.  Larry named the double cheeseburger a "Beaky-Burger".  When Beaky would come to the drive in to eat he would ask for "you know, one of those hamburgers".  I don't think he ever called it a "Beaky-Burger".

Beaky was about 5'5" tall and very thin, about 110#.  His hair and eyes were brown.  He had a receding hairline, but very little grey hair when he died.  He suffered a mild stroke about 1975 and lost some feeling in his hand.

Beaky and Lois wintered in San Antonio, Texas, with their daughter, Linda and her family.  Beaky was always cold and just loved the warm weather in Texas.  He died in the night at Linda's home.  Lois told us that she woke him up about midnight to give him his medicine and he told her he had had the most beautiful dream.  When she asked him about it, he said "you wouldn't understand." He died peacefully in his sleep.
