Burl was registered to vote in the 1844 elections of DeWitt Co.

In the 1850 Census of of Creek Twp, De Witt Co., IL, Burl, 27, is living with wife Nancy, 27, and children Benjamin, 2, and William 4/12.  He was born in KY, his wife in OH, and the children in IL.

In the 1870 census of Rock Creek Twp., Cowley Co., KS, Burl, 48, is living with wife Nancy A., 48, and children Benjamin, 21, William, 20, Warner, 18, Mary E., 16, Elisabeth, 14, Jerry, 12, Robert, 10, Isidora, 6, and Julia, 3.  He and his wife were born in KY, Robert, Isidora, and Julia in MO, and the rest in IL.

Burl may have moved his family to Butler, Kansas.  One source said he was born in March 1822.  Instinct is telling me that Burl is not Matthew and Levina's son, but I'm not sure who is.
