| Shortly after marriage Susannah and husband moved to Kentucky. Their third child was born in that state in 1812. Here they remained a few years, then moved to Warren County, Tennessee, in that portion which was in 1836 cut off into Cannon County. They were among the first settlers on Hollis Creek; Robert was a planter and slave owner. His early death in 1837 was both tragic and unusual. He had taken his team and wagon to Nashville for material of some kind, "and on his return trip he camped for the night under a tree, which was on fire. During the night, the fire having weakened it, it fell across the wagon in which he was sleeping and killed him." He and Susannah are buried on their old plantation which lay about midway between Woodbury and Hollis Creek, on the old Henderson Lane. Robert died testate. His will was probated December 1837 Cannon County, Tennessee. |
