Chester received his preliminary education in the common and high schools of his home town. He attended Butler College from 1900-1906. He also attended Cornell University from 1906-1907, and the University of Illinois from 1907-1911. He received an AB degree at Butler in 1906 and an AM degree at the University of Illinois in 1910. He held various positions in universities, including assistant instructor in mathematics in the University of Michigan from 1911-1912, was a professor of mathematics in Eureka college from 1912-1913, and instructor in mathematics in the University of Michigan in 1913.
Chester also wrote several books on mathematics and statistics. |
