In 1919, Mack was living in Weldon, IL. Mack lived on a farm in Sec. 10, Nixon Twp., De Witt Co. and was supervisor of a hundred thousand dollar drainage system for the county.  It was the largest system of its kind undertaken in IL at that time.  Mack attended high school in Valparaiso, IN, and then attended Normal University at Normal, IL.  He taught school in Farmer City, IL, and at that Smallwood school in Creek Twp.  He took up farming, and was county supervisor, tax collector, school directory, and a member of the township supervisors.  (from Donald Smallwood) In the 1880 census of 6th Ward, Bloomington, McLean Co., IL, Mack, 21, is living with the William R. Hitch family.  He is listed as "At School".  Several other unrelated young men are also living with the family. in the 1910 census of Nixon Twp, DeWitt Co., IL, Parmenus M., 52, is living with wife Laura, 52, son Hank C., 22, daughter Ferrel R., 19, and son Mt. Vernon, 15.  Also living with them are George Summers, 72 (Laura's uncle), and farm hands Frank Wheler and David M. Clem. In the 1900 census of Nixon Twp, DeWitt Co., IL, Parmenius, 42, is living with wife Laura, 42, and children Roy, 14, Hank C., 12, Feral R., 9, and Marrut V., 4.  George Summers, 65, an uncle of Laura's, is also living with them. In the 1920 census of Nixon Twp, DeWitt Co., IL, "Permenus M.", 62, is living with wife Laura, 62. In the 1930 census of Nixon Twp, DeWitt Co., IL, Parmenius M., 72, is living with wife Laura, 72, and son Hank P., 43, his wife Ruth T., 37, and grandson Junnie or Junior H., 4. The 20 Feb 1896 edition of the Daily Republican mentions that P.M. Smallwood was planning on building a nine room dwelling in Weldon.
