My mother Sarah only met John Poladian once on a trip to Wisconsin. She said he was a very nice, jolly man who loved to sing as he drove his convertible down the street at 25 mph with the top down. John, like Zano, came from the Sivas province of Turkey.
In the 1930 census of Racine, Wisconsin, Ward 3, John Poladian, 54, is living with his wife "Cassi" (Zano, I'm assuming), 42. He was born in Sivas, Turkey, and his wife in Gurin, Sivas, Turkey. He was 18 when he was first married, his wife 19. He immigrated to the US in 1913 and his wife in 1920. John owned his own shoemaking business. |
