Antoine was a cabinet maker.  He came to New Orleans in 1721 from France, three years after New Orleans was founded.  He embarked on August 11, 1720 on the vessel "LaLouie"

Antoine married Marguerite LeJeune, witnessed by Chevalier and Francois Grace. (ADNO-SR-1, 72) (SLC, M1, 1611).

The first volume of "The First Families of Louisiana" by Glenn R. Conrad, p108, gives the name of Antoine Joseph DE LATTE, laborer. His wife is with him, dated August 11, 1720 under the heading, "List of Officials and engages for the Ste. Reine Concession embarked on the LOIRE bound for Louisiana from Lorient. (Antoine was listed with the engages).

Page 16-17 of vol 2, "The First Families of Louisiana", December 20, 1724 Census of the persons living along the Mississippi River between New Orleans and the German Villages, Antoine Joseph DeLattes is listed under the concession of M. Claude Joseph Dubreuil and comments given are that he is a native of Douay, and a carpenter.

Page 43 of v2, of "The First Families of Louisiana", Census Of The Department of New Orleans lists Antoine Joseph DeLattes as living on St. Louis Street and a carpenter. p65, "List of Those Persons Who Own Land in the City of New Orleans" and the surname DELATTE is the #62 listing. p75 January 1732, "Census of the Inhabitants of New Orleans", only the surname of DELATTES living on Conty(sic) Street with a wife and one child and occupation, carpenter. Also in the household was listed a Michel DELATES (no info given on him).

Page 146 of v2, "The First Families of Louisiana", "1730, List of Those Persons Who Were Baptized in the Parish of New Orleans", ...Louis Delate, June 3 , son of Joseph DELATE and Marguerite LEJEUNE.

Vol 1, pg 161 of "Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Chruch Records 1707-1769" books, lists a "Marie Jeanne, native of New Orleans (Joseph & Marguerite Lejeune) marr. 13 June 1761, Jean Baptiste BARA, native of Joui, Archdiocese of Reims, widower of Marie Barbe Poch (jean & Marie Cuniso) Wit: Marie Jeanne Delatre, Antoine Delatre." Source of record: PCP-3,79 also PCP-1,215. This may be a daughter already listed but no record is given for a birth/baptism under the name of Marie Jeanne Delatte.
