When the 1860 Census was taken, Owen was farming. He owned real estate valued at $2,400 and personal property valued at $500.
Owen and his wife, Mary, joined the Church of Christ at Union, Johnson Co., IN in January 1862. They were dismissed by letter in August 1868. They moved to Montgomery Co., KS, but returned to Johnson Co., IN and rejoined the church in February 1877.
