Also called Rowland, Rowlin, and Rolin on various papers.

"Rolin" bought 40 acres of land in Effingham Co., IL, on 12/12/1838.

"Rowlin" bought another 40 acres in Effingham on 10/10/1840.

From the birth of his children, we know he was in Johnson Co. when he married in 1837.  By 1840, when his final land grant came through, he moved to Effingham to be with his family.  By 1847, he had returned to Indiana, living close to Loven G. Prichard, his younger cousin.

Roland and his wife, Lucy Sellers, had 12 children. Nine of them lived to maturity. Roland may have been born in Pulaski Co., KY. He was a minister as well as a carpenter.

When the 1840 Census was taken, Roland was living in Effingham Co., IL.

When the 1850 Census was taken, Roland was a farmer. He owned real estate valued at $300.
When the 1860 Census was taken, "Rolan" owned personal property valued at $300.

Roland or his son, Roland, may have served during the Civil War.

"Ro" was living with his son, "E.N.", in Hamburg, Fremont Co., IA, when the 1880 Census was taken.

When the 1900 Census was taken, Roland was living with his son, Elisha, on Park St., in Hamburg, Fremont Co., IA.
