| John enlisted in the Army for service in the Revolutionary War on 30 October 1775 at Morristown, NJ in Captain Silas Howell's Company of the First New Jersey Regiment, commanded by Colonels Lord Stirling and William Winds. He was in the expedition to Canada. This enlistment terminated in September 1776. John re-enlisted on 10 January 1777 and served as a Corporal in Captain Silas Howell's Company of the First New Jersey Regiment, Colonel Matthias Ogden commanding. He received an honorable discharge in the summer of 1777. John was taxed in Hanover Twp., Morris Co., NJ in 1784, 1787, and 1790. John was living in Danville, Columbia (now Montour) Co., PA on 9 July 1818 when he was granted a pension. He was placed on the pension roll on 6 August 1818 at $240 per year. His lifetime benefit totaled $3,323.21. |
