There clearly was a church at Morristown before 1742 since in 1742 the church had 55 members. Phebe and her brother, Samuel, are therefore most likely children of John and Mary born and baptized before 1742 in Morristown.
Phebe and Jonathan Johnson probably had other children between their marriage in 1760 and the four children recorded in Morristown starting with Mary's birth in 1775. Phebe and Jonathan were not confirmed until 1790 when four of their children were baptized. Perhaps their older children had either died or left home by that time. |
